Our Aspirations

We, the Positiv Dialog are a self-help group for people with HIV/AIDS. We support affected people in everyday life and in their private and social environment since 15 years. After a very long moving and emotional 30 years history of HIV/AIDS in Austria, this infectiouns illness can be treated now, but is never the less incurable. Our Society´s goal is to make the life of affected people easier, away from bureaucracy and officialdom and to strengthen them in their social environment. We offer affected people our support to learn to cope with the situation, to take care of their interests and needs and to access help.

Our Aims are

• To support affected people, their relatives and the bereaved.
• The elimination of discrimination and ostracism, to lessen fear of contact from affected people.
• Help and support with visits to the doctor and assistance in dealing with governmental agencies.
• Exchange of experiences between affected people and their relatives.
• we want to be their contact person and to give them a voice.

In our society we support affected people with special needs. To enable them to participate in our activities, we rely on professional care support.

Our activities with offers such as walks and hikes, swimming, visits to the cinema, museums and current exhibitions should make a welcome change to everyday life. Once a year we try to organize a one week holiday to get away from the problems of everyday life.

On our regular meeting evenings, we ofen invite guest speakers to talk about nutrition, medical possibilities developments and their effects (resistance, side effects), complimentary medicine, drug advice and advice on social and labor law our outdoor activities we discuss and organize together.

We also visit HIV/AIDS patients on the ward in hospital and hand over small presents at easter and at christmas.

We support members in need, most affected people live on a low income, making them vulnerable to a life in poverty.

In 2007 the AIDS MEMORIAL was called into life, a place of remembrance for people who died from aids.
We do the maintenance and take care of the memorial.

In order to implement our various projects we rely on the help from our supporters and sponsors.

We want to thank you, without your help it would not be possible to keep our society going.
